The PEC block is a new and innovative technique for the various perioperative procedures. It provides analgesia and anesthesia for breast and other chest surgeries. Since the evolution in USG guided nerve block the PEC block became famous due to easy approach and very good in providing analgesia. There are two ways and two types to provide PEC block and is discussed in this review.
Conscious sedation is most commonly practiced in western world in comparison to developing and underdeveloped countries. Due to advancement of technology and availability of safety drugs to anesthetize the patient is helping the patients to undergo certain procedures especially in dentistry. This technique helps mainly for pediatric patients and to patients who are very anxious. One should not forget that if patient selection is not appropriate or if minimum required facilities are not available then he or she may have to face medico-legal problems. This article reviews the concept of conscious sedation and the role of anesthesiologists.
Abernethy malformation is a rare congenital vascular malformation in which anomalous communication is seen between portal and systemic circulation. While treating the main goal is to prevent shunting of portal blood into the systemic circulation and preserving hepatic blood flow. This can be achieved surgically or non-surgical method. We report anaesthetic management of non-surgical closure of type II Abernethy malformation of 10 year old female child who had undergone ostium secundum ASD (atrial septal defect) patch closure.
