SUMMARY:Linear saturated polyesters (the length of the hydrocarbon chains of the dialcohols and dicarboxylic acids used in the synthesis are 2.2, 4.4, 6.6, 8.8 and 10.10) were synthesized in equimolecular proportions. These polyesters were melted, tempered and allowed to solidify, slowly on various substrates (Teflon, polyethylene, polyamide, glass and muscovite mica).By measuring the contact angle of various liquids on the polyester surfaces, the wetting properties and the solid surface tensions respectively, corresponding to the substrates on which they were solidified, were determined.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
