Modifying of the surface of pine wood with aqueous solutions boron-nitrogen compounds was empirically found to provide a 100% biological stability of wood for at least 20 years. Durability of the protective effect of the modifiers developed is due to the formation of hydrolytically stable compounds on the surface of the wood.
Modification of wood surface with compositions produced on the base of boric acid esters of amin-alcohols increases its polarity, decreases specific surface area and reduces water absorption of wood twice. This improves wettability of water surface and increases adhesion strength of paint coating which is the result of intermolecular forces of interaction. The latter provides increases service life of paint coating.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
