Statistical analysis of indexed information on 5,4 million men, subject to military conscription, gave a goitre incidence of 15.29 per cent. This corresponds to an endemic state and would suggest that goitre prevention programme is needed.

In 10 males the hormones of the anterior pituitary lobe, HGH, ICSH and FSH were determined in plasma by radioimmunoassay up to 90 minutes after IV administration of 1.0 mg thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH). A signjfjcant elevation of thes~ pituitary hormones was not observed; therefore, the thyrotropin releasing hormone is unlikely to have a stimulating effect on the output of HGH, ICSH and FSH.
