In today's modern society, including in Indonesia, there is an environmental crisis. This environmental crisis can be overcome by changing people's behavior and perspective by intervening to the community as early as possible. Storytelling can be one way to increase children's understanding about respect for nature. This study aims to knowing the effectiveness of storytelling to increase understanding of respect for nature in children aged 5-6 years. This study involving 31 children from TK Negeri Pembina, Kuningan, as participants. Intervention is done by reading four tales in four days. Understanding of respect for nature is measured using a measurement tool created by the researcher, in the form of six illustrations that depicting the behavior of respect for nature. The statistic analysis using Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed the difference of mean value of respect for nature understanding is significant (p <0.05) between before and after reading tales. The result of post-test 2, which done two weeks after the intervention still shows an increase score from the pre test.
Competition in the current era of globalization requires individuals to be more adaptive in their careers. Career adaptability is one of the constructs related to career psychology that focuses on helping individuals to monitor career development during their lifetime. This research was conducted on 440 final year college students who were at least in the seventh semester of their studies at university. This study assumes that career decision self-efficacy a mediator for the relation between future work self and career adaptability. The results show that future work self has a strong relationship with career adaptability. The relationship is proved to be mediated partially by career decision self-efficacy. There are still other possible variables that can fully explain the relationship of future work self and career adaptability to final years college students.Key words: Career adaptability, future work self, career decision self-efficacy, college students
This study aimed to determine the role of academic self-concept in mediating the relationship between self-regulation learning and commitment to career choice in high school students. This research focuses on the dimensions of vocational exploration and commitment, namely openness to explore career choices before committing to a particular career choice. This research uses quantitative approach with 315 students of high school students of X-XI class. Measurement of commitment to career choice is done by measuring tool Commitment to Career Choices Scale sub scale vocational exploraton and commitment. Measurement of self-regulation in learning using Motivated Strategies and Learning Questionnaire, while the academic self-concept was measured using the Academic Self Concept for Adolescents Scale. The result shows that self regulation in learning affects commitment to career choice through academic self concept. The self-regulated skills in applied learning consistently will shape the positive academic self-concept and impact on the increased commitment to career choice among high school students.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran konsep diri akademik dalam memediasi hubungan antara regulasi diri dalam belajar dan komitmen terhadap pilihan karier pada siswa SMA. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada salah satu dimensi dari komitmen terhadap pilihan karier, yaitu dimensi vocational exploration and commitment (VEC). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan partisipan penelitian berjumlah 315 orang siswa SMA kelas X-XI. Pengukuran komitmen terhadap pilihan karier dilakukan dengan alat ukur Commitment to Career Choices Scale sub skala vocational exploration and commitment. Pengukuran regulasi diri dalam belajar menggunakan Motivated Strategies and Learning Questionnaire, sedangkan konsep diri akademik diukur dengan menggunakan Academic Self Concept for Adolescents Scale. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa regulasi diri dalam belajar memengaruhi komitmen terhadap pilihan karier melalui konsep diri akademik. Keterampilan regulasi diri dalam belajar yang diterapkan dengan konsisten akan membentuk konsep diri akademik yang positif dan berdampak pada meningkatnya komitmen terhadap pilihan karier dimensi vocational exploration and commitment pada siswa SMA.
The aim of this study is to examine the impact of type II thinking style on career decision self-efficacy through planned happenstance skills through mediation of planned happenstance skills in adolescence. There was 720 students from three excellence schools who were participated in this quantitative study. The data were collected by using three scales: Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form, Thinking Style Inventory – Revised II, and Planned Happenstance Career Inventory, that have been adapted to Indonesian version by the researcher and previous researchers. The researchers were used macro PROCESS to analyzed the data. The result showed type II thinking style can affect career decision self-efficacy partially ( c = .3280, p = .0000; c’ = .1917, p = .0000). Based on the result of this study, we concluded when adolescents have good quality of planned happenstance skills, it can help adolescence who have type II thinking style have a good career decision self-efficacy.
Intellectual disability is deficits in intellectual functions, adaptive functions, and these deficits occure during the developmental period (before the age of eighteen). Emotion regulation related to the functions and become the problems for children with mild intellectual disability. Emotion regulation is individual’s ability to refrain himself from improper behavior concerning negative and positive emotions that he feels, to manage himself so that he does not depend on his mood condition, to calm down himself when strong emotion arises, and to focus his attention when strong emotion appears. Emotion regulation is extremely needed for adaptation in maintaining relations with other people. The one of interventions that can be used to handle emotion regulation problem for children with intellectual disability is by giving emotion regulation skills system training. This research uses single subject design. The result of this research shows that emotion regulation skills system training gives positive impacts on cognitive and behavior aspects of the subject. The application of these skills in daily life is related to the roles of people around the subject who can understand how to apply the skills and remind the subject
