<p class="abstrak"><em>The objective of this research was to find out the correlation between students’ reading interest and reading comprehension. The method used in this study was quantitative and the technique used was a correlational study. The population of the research was taken from students of the eighth grade of SMP Ahmad Dahlan Kota Jambi. The numbers of the population were 47 students. The Total sampling </em><em>which used all the population </em><em>was applied as the technique in taking the sample of the research. The data were obtained by using two instruments which were reading interest questionnaires</em><em> </em><em>and reading comprehension tests. </em><em>To measure the correlation Spearman’s Rho was used. </em><em>The result of this study showed that there was a high correlation between students’ reading interest and their reading comprehension. It was proven by coefficient correlational between students’ reading interest and their reading comprehension was r (0.983), it means those variables were significantly correlated. The result of analyzing the significant value is 0.01, it means that 0.01<0.05, thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. </em></p><p class="abstrak">Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan apakah ada hubungan antara minat baca siswa dan kemampuan membaca mereke. Metode yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui penelitian korelasi. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Ahmad Dahlan Kota Jambi. Jumlah populasi adalah 47 siswa. Pengambilan sampel penelitian diperoleh melalui total sampling. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner untuk mengukur minat baca siswa dan memberikan tes pada siswa untuk mengetahui level pemahaman membaca siswa. Untuk mengukur korelasi peneliti menggunakan teori Spearman’s Rho. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang tinggi antara minat baca dan pemahaman membaca. Terbukti dari hasil perhitungan korelasi ditemukan bahwa hubungan antara minat baca dan pemahaman membaca siswa adalah r (0.983), ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel tersebut memiliki korelasi yang signifikan. Hasil dari signifikansi adalah 0.01, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa 0.01<0.05. Long-tailed macaques are highly adaptive in various types of habitats. Their behaviour who are accustomed to living in groups with specific activities greatly affects the home range in getting food. They have ecological and cultural values for a particular community; unfortunately, it was well known as an agricultural crop pest. Quality of the habitat to be one determinant factor of macaques disruptions. The purposes of the study are to understand the conditions of conflict humans and macaques in Central Java that used as a reference in determining solutions. Data analyzed descriptively from various reports and research findings. The data collected identified from 2011 to 2019. Disturbance of long-tailed macaque in Central Java occurs at least 15 regencies with the population reaching thousands of individuals of damage to crops and even enter settlements. The macaque's behaviour that is considered detrimental causes conflicts with humans which at the end, creating various handling efforts ranging from expulsion to hunting. Some research findings show that people's perceptions of wild animals will affect efforts to resolve or mitigate the problem of human conflict with wildlife and negative attitudes can cause adverse effects for conservation efforts.
This study aims to assess and analyse the sorts of speech functions used by teachers in the tenth grade at one vocational high school in Jambi, Indonesia, and to identify the most prevalent kind. The study was carried out using descriptive qualitative research and descriptive analysis design. In this study, data were triangulated through observation and documentation. The study's targets were English teachers, and the transcribed data was divided into three categories of language functions. Holmes' concept is applied to classify speech functions. There are three types of utterance functions: expressive, imperative, and referential. The results showed that out of 60 speech functions, the directive function was applied by instructors the most frequently, accounting for 31 of them (51.66%). Directive one is the main reason, as it delivers interaction by directing and requesting the student. The study recommends that there are still many types of speech functions, but alternatively, directives are more prominent. Other researchers can gather data from many sources, including Instagram's English-language account, an English newspaper or magazine, and many more. The current study encourages English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers to complete a task and determine an assignment for future research. Given the implications of directive functions for English teachers in teaching speaking skills and the ability to inquire about something and command and request learners to perform something.
The objectives of this study were to determine whether or not there was a significant effect of using REDW ( Read, Examine, Decide, Write ) strategy on reading comprehension and to know the significant difference of reading comprehension between students who are taught by using REDW (Read, Examine, Decide, Write) strategy and those who are not . The study was conducted at Islamic Junior High School Tarbiyah Islamiyah Jambi. The population in this study were all eighth graders, each class consisted of less than 30 students. The researcher used REDW strategy in class 8B as the experimental class and class 8A used conventional method as control class. This research used quantitative – experimental approach. The design of study was quasi-experimental design, it was the pretest-posttest non- equivalent group design. The data was collected by a test as research instruments, there were two test: pre-test and posttest. From the results of the test, the independent t-test calculation in posttest score in both groups showed that the significant value was higher than level of significance (0.870 > 0.05). It indicated that there was the significant difference between experimental and control group. Moreover, the paired t-test calculation showed the result of paired sample t-test (5.949 < 0.05) in which there was a significant effect of using REDW strategy on students reading comprehension.
Jumlah penduduk Kota Surabaya dari tahun 2014 sampai 2015 mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,45%. Lahan pertanian di Kota Surabaya mengalami penyusutan lahan sebesar 75 hektar setiap tahunnya. Peningkatan jumlah penduduk Kota Surabaya berbanding terbalik dengan ketersediaan lahan pertanian. Solusinya adalah menerapkan konsep baru urban farming. Hasil optimasi eksisting menghasilkan intensitas tanam sebesar 289% dengan pola tanam padi-palawija-palawija, sedangkan optimasi rencana menghasilkan intensitas tanam sebesar 240% dengan pola tanam palawija-palawija (hidroponik tingkat atas), intensitas tanam sebesar 311% dengan pola tanam palawija-palawija-palawija (hidroponik tingkat bawah), dan budidaya ikan lele sistem bioflok. Kebutuhan air rencana sebesar 3,63x106 liter sedangkan ketersediaan tampungan air total sebesar 3,75x106 liter. Nilai Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) eksisting dan rencana masing-masing sebesar 0,09 dan 1,43. Nilai Net Present Value (NPV) eksisting dan rencana masing-masing sebesar Rp-115.719.410,06 dan Rp2.956.052.297,26. Nilai Payback Period (PP) eksisting dan rencana membutuhkan 12,39 tahun dan 1,7 tahun.
