Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill), originating in the basin of the Eastern Mediterranean and Caucasian, is now cultivated in many varieties selected by the sweetness and low concentrations of anethole, which allows consumption in salad dressings and condiments. Other varieties were selected to obtain high concentrations of essential oils and are used in folk medicine pharmaceutical industry. Despite the long history of application ethnomedicinal F. vulgare, no reports of serious side effects, several studies have shown that they can present cytotoxic and genotoxic activity. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of aqueous extract of fennel (Foeniculum vulgarevar. vulgare Mill.), Prepared in 2%, 4% and 8%, compared to bioindicators (Allium cepa L. and Musmusculus L.). The aqueous extract of F. vulgarea concentration of 2% cytotoxic effects caused significantly inhibiting mitotic division and genotoxic effects, providing chromosomal damage induced micronucleus formation in meristematic cells of Allium cepa L. In experimental animals in vivo genotoxic potential was found in cell bone marrow of mice. In this way, fennel tea should be consumed with moderations and medical care, especially for infants who have not yet developed the digestive tract, it may be harmful to health.
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) it is a medicinal herb grown in almost all tropical countries, including Brazil. Your still therapeutic use is homemade, taking into account the ethnobotanical knowledge. Despite the long history with no reports of serious side effects, research has shown that they may have genotoxic potentialities. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the genotoxic effects of aqueous extract of lemongrass, prepared in 2%, 4% and 8% in the animal test system - Mus musculus L. The results showed that the bend the concentration of the aqueous extract of fresh leaves of lemon grass, bent also genotoxic effects on bone marrow Mus musculus L, inducing an increased frequency of micronucleus. This way, the consumption of lemon grass tea should be done with moderations and monitoring of health professionals.
Deforestation and the irregular use of the soil in Brazil has produced several areas degraded and without utility for the breeding of animals, the recovery of degraded areas with the beans can be an excellent alternative for the improvement of the quality of small producers, the property will not render it unproductive and it is still possible to use the beans as food. The aim of this study was to diagnose a farm as their chemical, physical and climate and develop a silvopastoral system deployment proposal in order to ensure balanced environmental management area. The study area is situated between the towns of Nanuque and Carlos Chagas in the state of Minas Gerais. The area is in an advanced process of degradation. The same was diagnosed through technical visits, conducting photographic survey and satellite imagery, and soil samples were taken for analysis, to environmental assessments of the local situation. With the completion of all analyzes and evaluations, was obtained as a result, the possibility of deploying a silvopastoral system within that area, so it will be proposed the planting of trees in the area of the spring. Keywords-silvopastoral systems. Recovery of degraded areas.
