Concrete pavement joints are an important part of the cement concrete pavement, and joints are the weak link of the concrete pavement. It is also one of the main causes of early diseases and failure of cement concrete pavement. This paper summarizes the outcome of the predecessors, introduces the research status of the joints, and analysis the joint destruction and its cause from the point of view of the stress.
The seepage field of tailings pond is analyzed. Based on the result distribution of hydraulic head and velocity in the dam body, seismic analysis is carried out for the tailings pond in steady flow state. Three seismic waves are input and the safety factors of dam under seismic action are also achieved. The results show that the safety factor will decrease 0.3~0.4 with the seismic intensity increase one degree. The results provide some information on seepage and dynamic stability evaluation of tailings dam.

In Guangdong MeiHe highway K28 + 360 ~ + 360 section of the steep slope embankment as the research object, by adopting the combination of measurement and numerical analysis methods, analyze the failure process and mode of steep slope embankment. Based on the analyses, The following conclusions were obtained: the sliding surface of fill embankments on slope foundations of K28+360~+860 section was the original surface of the slope. Constructions of the highway would block the groundwater discharge and reduce the strength of the original surface of the slope, which would cause the slide of the fill embankments on slope foundations.
The unstable failure of rock and soil slope was a progressive evolution process from local failure to total failure. The no-uniformity of rock and soil materials and differences of boundary conditions caused the discrepancy of stress field, together with the elastic-plastic characteristics of the sliding zone which controls the progressive unstable failure process. In this paper, any point of slop sliding zone was taken for the research object. On basis of limit slice method, the mechanical condition of slice was considered as a plane strain problem. According to Mohr-Coulomb linear failure criterion the stress state of a point is obtained with selecting stress function to establish the mechanical criterion of progressive slope failure. The analysis of engineering example shows that the mechanical criterion is reasonable to estimate the state of progressive slope evolution.
