SiO 2 -ZnGa 2 O 4 :Cr 3+ glass ceramics were prepared by a sol-gel method. The influence of TiO 2 addition on the crystallization behavior and photoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. The nonisothermal crystallization kinetic studies based on Kissinger, Ozawa, and Matusita models were performed on the SiO 2 -ZnGa 2 O 4 :Cr 3+ glasses with different amount of TiO 2 . The introducing of TiO 2 component as nucleant in the glasses can significantly reduce the crystallization activation energy. The results of the crystallization kinetic calculation and scanning electronic microscope observations indicated that the crystallization of ZnGa 2 O 4 :Cr 3+ from the glass possessed a surface nucleation and growth mechanism. Near infrared emission of the glass ceramics was obtained under the excitation at 414 nm. The crystal field parameters around Cr 3+ and excited state dynamics of Cr 3+ were studied in detailed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
