Maxillofacial fracture can cause facial deformity up to threat life saving thing due to disturbance of airway. Maxillofacial fracture is most happen in productive age because of more high activities. This research purpose to know the demography maxillofacial fracture patient. This research was a descriptive retrospective study which was done at Arifin Achmad General Hospital Pekanbaru. Base on secondary data research results that take from patient's medical record from 195 patients maxillofacial fracture, only 135 cases include to criteria. Maxillofacial fracture 117 patients were men (86,67%) and 18 patients were women (13,33%). Most of patients were 11-20 years old 53 cases (39,26%). Traffic accident was the most etiology maxillofacial fracture 128 cases (94,81%.). Most often clinical manifestations were edema of soft tissue, epistaxis, deformity and malocclusion. Mandibula fracture as the first top case were 62 patients (45,92%). Surgery (ORIF) was mostly done in 87 patient (64,45%), include combine with close reduction.
Background: Penetrating facial injury can cause injury to the bone and soft tissue surrounding. Penetrating facial injury caused by organic foreign bodies or metal material increases the risk of infection in the wound. Identification of the location of the entry of foreign bodies, whether the vital organs, the presence of injury to the nerves, vascular, visual, and other muscle damage is very important to do. For that immediate and optimal treatment can be applied to reduce morbidity and mortality. Case presentation: A 13 years old boy arrived in ER admission with penetrating facial injuries. A corpus alienum penetrated the patient’s face at the medial meatus of the right eye along with bleeding from the nose and around the wound. Evaluation and management of the penetrating facial injury were performed in accordance with the ATLS protocol. The aim of management in penetrating facial injuries is to remove the foreign body with minimal trauma to surrounding structures and to maintain normal function and optimal appearance. The patient underwent emergency surgery the remove corpus alienum and wound exploration under general anesthesia. Postoperative evaluation shows no bleeding or signs of infection, no visual impairment, and tear flow were found. Conclusion: Penetrating facial injury due to motorcycle gear shifter lever is rare. Good Management of penetrating facial injury will give satisfactory results.
Since the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 has become a global health problem. In Indonesia, the number of COVID-19 continues to grow, including among health workers. Unfortunately, many died while taking care of those infected by this disease. The central government and local governments are responsible for providing the health workers with health service facilities, including personal protective equipment (PPE), to care for those infected by COVID-19 to break the chain of transmission. At the beginning of the spread of this disease, the number of PPE was limited even though the health workers urgently needed the equipment so they wouldn't be infected/exposed. This article will discuss the government's legal responsibility for providing PPE for medical staff to deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic.
