A laser beam-shaping system was established with a deformable mirror (37 element) and a Shack±Hartmann wave-front sensor. The deformable mirror changes its surface to modulate the beam's phase distribution and the Shack±Hartmann sensor measures the laser wave-front in real-time. By using these components combined with the theories of wave-front aberration and di raction, a laser beam with a circular Gaussian pro®le can be transformed to uniform rectangular irradiation at the focal plane. By the results of the experiment, the limiting factors of the optical system for reshaping uniform pro®les are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
