BackgroundThis study aimed to analyze the potential function of lncRNA CCAT2 in cervical cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis.Material/MethodsExpression level of CCAT2 in cervical cancer cell lines (HeLa, CaSki, and SiHa) was detected by quantitative real-time PCR. CCAT2 knockdown was established by transfecting siRNA into human cervical cancer cells. Its effects on cell proliferation were studied using cell-counting kit-8 assay. The effect of CCAT2 on cervical cancer cells cycle and apoptosis was assessed by flow cytometry assay.ResultsCCK8 assay showed that CCAT2 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation in HeLa, CaSki, and SiHa cells. The flow cytometry confirmed the results that knockdown of CCAT2 could induce cervical cancer cells cycle G1 phase arrestment and trigger the cells apoptosis.ConclusionsLncRNA CCAT2 promoted the proliferation and survival of cervical cancer cells.
Obesity is a common global problem. There are many fat-reducing herbal prescriptions in traditional Chinese medicine that have been proven to be safe and functional during long-term application. Microbial fermentation can improve the efficacy of herbal medicine and improve the unsavory flavor. In this study, Shenheling extract (SHLE) composed of six medicine food homology materials was used as the research object. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Lactobacillus fermentum grx08 fermentation on the antiobesity efficacy and flavor of SHLE. We found that L. fermentum grx08 grew well in SHLE. After 72 h of fermentation, the total polysaccharides, total flavonoids, total polyphenols and total saponins of SHLE decreased, but the lipase inhibitory activity and total antioxidant capacity (FRAP) were significantly increased (p < 0.01). There were no significant differences in the α-glucosidase inhibition rate and DPPH· clearance rate before or after fermentation (p > 0.05). In addition, the fermentation reduces the unpleasant flavors of SHLE such as bitterness and grassy and cassia flavors. This study demonstrates that SHLE fermented by Lactobacillus fermentum grx08 improved some anti-obesity functions and improved the unpleasant flavor.
Most women in the perinatal period face sleep issues, which can affect their mental health. Only a few studies have focused on sleep trajectories and depressive symptoms of women during the perinatal period in China. This study aims to explore the development trajectory of sleep quality by classifying pregnant women according to the changes in their sleep quality during pregnancy and postpartum and investigate the correlation between different sleep quality trajectory groups and depressive symptoms. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess the sleep quality, and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to assess the symptoms of depression. Participants (n = 412) completed the assessment of sleep quality, depressive symptoms, and some sociodemographic and obstetric data at 36 weeks of gestation, 1 week after delivery, and 6 weeks after delivery. The group-based trajectory model (GBTM) was used to complete the trajectory classification, and logistic regression was used to analyze the predictive factors of postpartum depressive symptoms. Four different sleep quality trajectories were determined: “stable-good,” “worsening,” “improving,” and “stable-poor” groups. The results demonstrate that poor sleep trajectories, social support and parenting experience during the perinatal period are related to postpartum depression. Screening for prenatal sleep problems is crucial for identifying the onset of perinatal depressive symptoms.
Although many risk factors for suicidal ideation have been identified, few studies have focused on suicidal ideation and pre-natal depression. The purpose was to investigate the relationship between decision-making (DM) dysfunction and sleep disturbance on suicidal ideation in pre-natal depression. Participants included 100 women in the third trimester of pregnancy, including pregnant women with pre-natal depression who had recent suicidal ideation (n = 30), pre-natal depression without SI (n = 35) and healthy controls (n = 35). The Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) was used to evaluate the DM function and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to assess the sleep index. The Edinburgh Post-natal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to assess suicidal ideation and the seriousness of depression. Overall, the two groups with pre-natal depression showed worse sleep quality and decreased DM function compared with healthy controls. The pre-natal depression with suicidal ideation group showed a significantly higher score in subjective sleep quality and a lower score in block 5 of IGT than the pre-natal depression without suicidal ideation group. Further correlation analysis showed that suicidal ideation positively correlated with subjective sleep quality, sleep duration, and daytime function, and negatively correlated with IGT scores. Sleep disturbance and impaired DM function may be risk factors for suicidal ideation in pre-natal depression.
Turbidites have been regarded as an important sedimentary infilling component in both oceans and lakes, but limited studies have been performed on the mechanisms governing the initiation and development of lacustrine turbidite systems. The present study offers unique insight into the controls and potential extent of ancient lacustrine turbidite systems by an investigation of the Triassic Ordos Lake, where a large turbidite system had been traced across >25 653 km 2 . This article shows by comparison that the Triassic Ordos Lake turbidite system is larger than all known modern and ancient lacustrine counterparts. The exceptionally large intracontinental sag basin provided a relatively unconfined environment for the development of the turbidite system, explaining its vast extent. Extraordinary flood events formed during the Carnian Pluvial Episode facilitated continuous sediment supply into the turbidite system, supporting its accumulation. Lacustrine flood-related turbidity currents travelled as sediment-laden turbulent flows, showing an increase in the proportion of suspended-load deposits and a decrease in the proportion of bed-load deposits downstream from the river mouth. Five architectural elements have been revealed, reflecting a distinctive assemblage of erosional bedforms and depositional bedforms in channel-lobe systems, and their recognition criteria were established. This study changes the traditional understanding of lacustrine turbidite systems, generally interpreted as having smaller sizes, and demonstrates likewise in the lacustrine realm, that extreme flood events can generate a world-class deep-water turbidite system, which can even be comparable with its submarine counterparts. This study also confirms that the combination of lowgradient slopes and a long-lived, mixed-load, prograding fluvial feeder system can produce exceptionally large-scale deep-lake flood-related turbidites. Furthermore, it has implications for the prediction of facies and reservoir quality in ancient lacustrine turbidite systems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
