Nasopharyngeal teratomas are rare neoplasms of embryonic origin and are usually seen with acute respiratory distress at birth. Until now, the mainstay of radiologic assessment has consisted of computed tomography. An unusual case of nasopharyngeal teratoma with extensive neck involvement, which was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), is reported for the first time. The role of MRI scanning in the evaluation of this entity is discussed.
