Examples are given of opinions, which were prevalent long ago, but were, after a period of apparent neglect, ascribed to newer authorities. Thus, although taken as 20th century views, yet it was known by 1842 that tumour cells exhibit poor cohesiveness, while the need for adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery for cancer was appreciated as far back as 1700. It is hoped that illustrations such as these could promote research into the important but neglected subject of cancer history.
