Paper discussed important factors affecting handling of ULCS (ultra large container ships) in Port of Gdańsk. In recent years more such vessels had been calling Gdańsk, including new generation o ULCS called Triple-E launched by Maersk. Studies conducted in Maritime University confirmed feasibility of safe handling of such large vessels but pointed to several factors needed to be taken under consideration to provide required safety level for ship handling operations. Author analysed factors responsible for safe handling ULCs in Gdańsk.
In recent years the transition of marine navigation to the digital era has been gaining momentum. Implementation of e-Navigation solutions varies from country to country in terms of their priorities, goals, levels and effects. Maritime authorities in Poland have been setting the pace in this transition process, not only in Poland but also in general as a global solution. The most recent example is the planned deployment of a variety of e-Navigation tools in the Vistula Lagoon: from GNSS-RTK Ground-Based Augmentation System, to virtual and synthetic aids to navigation, high-resolution bathymetry and advanced navigational software for piloting. The major objectives of this paper are, first, to summarise recent dynamics in the e-Navigation field, and second, to present a practical implementation of the e-Navigation concept in the Vistula Lagoon area.
The article discusses the technical methods of carrying out the bunkering of sea-going vessels with LNG fuel coming from transport tanks delivered to the port by trucks. Authors indicates the necessity of applying appropriate safety standards when selecting the LNG transfer location and the adjustment of LNG fuel transfer procedures from transport containers to DFE-powered vessels. The paper point to the urgent need to adapt national legal provisions regarding the organization of transfer places, as well as the implementation of bunkering of ships with LNG fuel in Polish ports.
Paper presents requirement of necessary infrastructure for ensuring safety access for Polish ports. Presented type of infrastructure and necessary low requirements. There are many legal domestic and international requirements in this field. Authors indicated that Polish Maritime Office are well organized in security safety in this requirements.
