Fimbristylis Vahl is a large genus of Cyperaceae belonging to tribe Abildgaardieae. The genus comprises about 382 species worldwide (Govaerts et al., 2019) and is distributed mainly in the tropical and subtropics, with the greatest number in Southeast Asia and Northeastern Australia.
