Redox reactions between CH2(BI2)2 and hexyne-3 or butyne-2 lead to 4,5-dialkyl-1,3-diiodo- 2,3-dihydro-1,3-diboroles. In 2c and 2d the B - I function is substituted by CI, OC2H5, SCH3, N(CH3)2, CH3, C2H5 and C6H5 to yield the corresponding derivatives 2e-21. 1H, 11B, and 13C data of 2 are reported.
