Bill Farrand became involved in simulation in 1943 when he was with Beckman Instruments and in 1945 when he helped set up the vannever Bush Mechanical Differential Analyzer (a wonderful device to behold, now in the Smithsonian) at UCLA. Bill has also worked for Lockheed Aircraft, where he was project engineer for a Total Aircraft Simulator (a flight trainer) and for Telecomputing, as chief engineer. He has been with North American Aviation since 1950, where he is now a staff engineer.
