Cloth i s extremely weak in bending and its deformat i on i s generally a small-strain-Iarge-d i splacement post-buckling process. Cloth has multi-pattern deformation characterist i cs, which means it can form d i fferent shapes under the same boundary and loading conditions. The present paper aims to simulate cloth mult i -pattern phenomenon by the m i n i mum potent i al energy pr i nciple and the conjugate grad i ent method. Numerical examples are given and the predicted results conform well to our da i ly percept i on of cloth mult i -pattern deformat i on.
