High spin states in neutron-deficient '17Xe have been studied by using in-beam 7 spectroscopy method. A new positive-parity rotational band has been identified. It decays into the yrast uhlllz band via five electric dipole transitions. The magnitudes of these E l transitions are extracted and they are much enhanced compared to the normal El transitions. This is taken as an evidence for octupole correlations in 'I7Xe.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
