The present study analyzed the feature of occupational chromium poisoning in China since the 1980s. The collected data were acquired from 18 previous surveys of chromium poisoning in 14 cities of China. The method of risk assessment was applied to calculate the relative risk and 95% CI, p < 0.05 was considered as a significant risk. The results showed that nasal disease was the most common sign of occupational chromium poisoning, and the prevalence rate of nasal disease was 17.83% in total population of 6,998. Further, the risk analysis showed that occupational chromium poisoning led to an increased risk of lung or liver cancer in male workers due to the definite carcinogenicity of hexavalent chromium. Significantly, an increased risk of spontaneous or threatened abortion was also found in female workers. In conclusion, these studies suggest that early detection of impaired reproductive function or impaired lung or liver function in female or male workers is essential for controlling occupational chromium poisoning in China.
Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China, this paper uses a two-way fixed effect model to empirically test the influence of regional digital economy development on the level of low-carbon, inclusive growth. The empirical study shows that: (1) The digital economy has a significant inverted U-shaped impact on China’s regional low-carbon, inclusive growth. It shows that regional digital economic development has a significant inverted U-shaped impact on low-carbon, inclusive growth (the inflection point is 0.3081), and it was found that most of the observations fall on the left side of the inverted U shape. (2) The inverted U-shaped influence has significant heterogeneity in the regional location, information degree, and factor productivity level. (3) The digital economy promotes low-carbon, inclusive growth mainly by improving the overall efficiency of source allocation, but low-carbon, inclusive growth may be curbed by distorting the allocation of capital elements. (4) Via dimensionality reduction analysis, we found that the inverted U-shaped impact of digital applications and digital finance on regional low-carbon, inclusive growth is more obvious. In addition, we also found that the inverted U-shaped impact of regional digital economic development on low-carbon ecology and social inclusiveness is more obvious. This study provides an important reference value for relevant departments to formulate low-carbon, inclusive development policies from the perspective of regional digital economic development.
Based on provincial panel data of China from 2011 to 2019, this paper discusses the influence and mechanism of the platform economy on the high-quality development of regional economies. It is found that the platform economy has an inverted U-shaped impact on the high-quality development of regional economies. On the left side of the inverted U-shaped inflection point, the platform economy plays a significant role in promoting high-quality economic development; on the right side of the inflection point, the platform economy has an obvious inhibitory effect on high-quality economic development. Statistical analysis showed that 85% of the observations fell on the left side of the inflection point, indicating that China’s platform economy as a whole is in the early stages of development. From the strong and weak grouping test of the degree of government intervention, it was found that the platform economy only has an inverted U-shaped effect on the high-quality development of the areas with weak intervention. From the point of view of the coefficient, the platform economy has a greater promoting effect on the high-quality development of the areas with strong intervention. From the grouping test of the quality of the market system, it was found that the inverted U-shaped curve is steeper in the areas with higher institutional quality, indicating that, in the early stage of development, the platform economy has a greater promoting effect on the high-quality development of areas with perfect institutions. In addition, the analysis of regional heterogeneity showed that, in the early stage of development, the promoting effect of the platform economy on the high-quality development of the northeastern and western regions is more significant. After exceeding the threshold, the platform economy has an inhibitory effect on the high-quality development of all regions. The mechanism test shows that technology, talent, and capital in the initial stage of development can all play a positive regulatory role; after exceeding the threshold, platform economic monopoly may restrain high-quality economic development by hindering technological progress and causing a mismatch of labor–capital elements and resources.
