/ Red Cross Hospita/Ultrasonographic and radiographic findings in 72 cases of pelvic masses which have been proved histopathologically were analyzedThe res 비 15 were as follows;1. Among 72 cases, 28 cases were uterine masses and 44 cases were adnexal masses.2. Pathologic accuracies of ultrasonographic diagnosis were 64.3% in uterine masses, 70.5% in adnexal masses, and 68.1% in all pelvic masses.3. Plain or IVP findings were not specific in diagnosis and showed secondary mass effec15 or functional disturbances 4. Because of its high accuracy of pathologic diagnosis and safety, ultrasonography can be regarded as the most valuable and preferential study. But in cases of cystic myomas, endometrioses, cystic missed abor tions and huge masses, the accurate diagnoses were difficult.
Most gastric malignanci es are advanced at the time 01 detection, so accurate diagnosis and staging are important lor treatment planning and evaluation 01 the prognosis. Computed tomography (CT) is one 01 the most simpl e, rapid, non-invasive method 01 accurate diagnosis and staging of gastri c mali gnancy Authors analysed signilica nce 01 preoperative CT staging in 38 cases 01 pathologically confirmed gastric mali gnanci es and the CT staging is compa red w ith that of 20 cases who underwent su rgeryThe res ults were as fo ll ows:1. In a total 0118 cases who und erwent surgery, resectability was 77.8% and lalse negative was 38.9%.2. Causes 01 lalse negative interpretation are microinvasion to adjacent organs or metastatic micronod ul es, hidden regional Iymphnode metastasis, misinterpretation to reactive hyperplasia 01 enlarged Iymphnodes and indistint lat plane owing to severe emaciation 3. Even a small localized mass without gastri c wall thickening, there was extensive distant metastases, so accurate preoperative CT staging would prevent unnecessary surgical exploration and will result in less complκat l oπ decreased mortality and ex penses and allow more acc urate treatment planning.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
