A hierarchical CuS/Bi2W2O9 heterojunction photocatalyst exhibits excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of diuron achieving 95% mineralization within 3 h of irradiation.
A series of new type-II CdS/Bi 2 W 2 O 9 heterojunction nanomaterials is prepared by a two stage process. Initially, phase-pure Bi 2 W 2 O 9 , with orthorhombic crystalline structure, is prepared by a facile combustion-synthesis route. The combustion-synthesized Bi 2 W 2 O 9 is subsequently modified by CdS nanoparticles using a hydrothermal route. The CdS/Bi 2 W 2 O 9 heterojunctions are characterized using XRD, XPS, FTIR spectroscopy, UV/Vis DRS, PL, and FESEM and HRTEM studies. The occurrence of ultrafine CdS nanoparticles, with diameters of 8-15 nm, well-dispersed over BWO plates, is inferred from [a]
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
