A new ternary Zr x Cu y C z phase is observed in the reactively infiltrated ZrC/W composite. The X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analyses reveal that the Zr x Cu y C z phase has a same rocksalt structure as ZrC, but possesses sixfold long-period structure with lattice constant of 2.88 ± 0.07 nm. This finding indicates the existence of Zr x Cu y C z compound, which expands the ternary carbides and nitrides permutation space.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
