The regioselectivity of unsymmetrically substituted allylic reagents dramatically alters with the choice of the tin(II) salt. Aryltin trichlorides (XV) are added to norbornene to give 1:1 adducts and 2:1 adducts containing two norbornane units. The product ratio is dependent on the choice of the solvent and the electronic nature of the aromatic substituent.
