Education quality has become an attracting topic in postgraduate education in past few decades. Although many scholars have carried out a wide range of research, the research did not provide a chronological picture of the themes. To give a comprehensive picture of quality guarantee of China's graduate education, bibliometrics analysis methods were employed to analyze the 342 articles collected from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) between 1999 and 2019. The distribution characteristics of documents, published journals, research institutions and research methods were revealed in content analysis. The law of change on research field and research topics was described in co-word analysis with VOSviewer. Based on the results, this study also suggests directions for further work.
Abstract. Student engagement has become an attracting field in higher education in past few decades. Although many literatures have carried out a wide range of research, the research did not provide a chronological picture of the themes. To address this issue, the co-word analysis method was employed to analyze the 538 articles from Web of Knowledge database in the period 2001-2016. The results identify six research themes in this field, including engagement connotation, students' and teachers' role, schools' environmental improvement and advanced technical means, etc. This study gives a comprehensive picture of student engagement in higher education, and also suggests directions for further work.

The distribution characteristics of paper quantity, published journals, research institutions and research type were revealed. The co-word analysis was used to analyze the research topics. Combining the results of abstract and keywords, this paper explore the research themes. Given the results of analysis, this paper also suggests directions for further work.
