A wideband monopole antenna with dual band‐stop function for WLAN (2.4 GHz/5 GHz) is presented. By cutting away an arched slot from the radiation patch and inserting spur‐lines into the ground, dual band‐stop functions for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WLAN bands are obtained. The proposed antenna operates over 1.9–11 GHz for VSWR <2, while providing a band‐stop function in the frequency bands of 2.2–2.5 GHz and 5.15–6.1 GHz. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel compact CPW ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna combined with a compact band-selective filter is proposed. The proposed antenna without filter satisfies the return loss requirement of less than −10 dB over the frequency range of 3.0 GHz to 12.1 GHz. The optimized antenna has dimensions of 10×16 mm 2 on a Teflon substrate (ε r = 3.48) with good radiation characteristics and is easy to fabricate. The proposed antenna with filter has the frequency band of 3 GHz to 11 GHz for VSWR less than 2.0 with a rejection band around 5.0 to 5.9 GHz.

In this letter, a wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) operating at 1–5 GHz is proposed.The circuit is designed with a TSMC 0.18‐μm RF CMOS process. To obtain high transconductance with low power consumption, two types of inverters are used. The proposed LNA is expected to reduce the size of chip about 70–80% by using only the single‐spiral inductor. The measured voltage gain is 14.4–15.5 dB and noise figure (NF) is 4.3–5.0 dB from 1–5 GHz. The total power consumption of the proposed LNA is 9.8 mW from a 1.4 V supply voltage and chip area occupies only 0.5 × 0.5 mm2. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
