Parkinson's disease (PD), also known as paralysis agitans, is a disorder that causes degeneration of the central nervous system, with characteristic features of tremor or impaired muscle coordination (Parkinson, 2002;Jankovic, 2007;Bartels & Leenders, 2009). PD is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder following Alzheimer's disease, with growing social and economic costs (de Lau & Breteler, 2006). Additionally, PD is known to affect about 0.3% of the entire population.
