Metal supported solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) replaces usual ceramic support with metal for enhancing mechanical strength. Metal supported SOFC has high mechanical strength, better resistance to vibrations and impact than conventional SOFC. In this study, 3-layer metal supported SOFC short stack was designed and developed for auxiliary power unit (APU) application. For the development of metal supported SOFC stack, metal supported SOFC was fabricated by sinter joining process. Electrochemical performance of the short stack was evaluated in 800°C. The short stack showed 3.0V of open circuit voltage (OCV) and 23.1 W of maximum power. The short stack operated for 120 hours in galvanostatic mode with 2.16 A of discharge current and 2.0 V of initial voltage. After 120 hours, voltage of the short stack was 1.81 V and its degradation rate was 9.5 % per 120 hours.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
