Background: Secondary cardiac tumors are far more frequent than primary tumors. Cardiac metastasis of osteosarcoma is extremely rare. Case Presentation: We report a 14-year-old child with left femur osteosarcoma that had metastasized to the left ventricle after 30 months of follow-up. The diagnosis was confirmed based on the findings of transthoracic echocardiography and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography. Surgical removal was indicated in the patient, but his parents refused this decision, and the patient was discharged and admitted to a pediatric oncology center for chemotherapy. The patient died after four courses of chemotherapy. Conclusion: Cardiac metastasis of osteosarcoma is a strong predictor of disease. The demographic differences shown in our case include male sex and a short interval between onset and cardiac involvement.
Admittedly, the respiratory picture remains the most classic, however, covid 19 is lately considered to be a vasculitis affecting several organs, and therefore which is the origin of other extra-pulmonary manifestations, in particular thromboembolic disease (both venous and arterial) which has increasingly become a dramatic complication to be feared during this pandemic, due to its negative impact on the prognosis of affected patients, increasing the need for a resuscitation environment and the death rate. The mechanism is multifactorial, associating endothelial damage, an abnormality of hemostasis, and immunothrobosis [1]. We report the case of a 52-year-old young patient who had an acute ischemia of his left lower limb, by embolization of a thrombus located in the left ventricle, during his involvement by covid 19 and who was taken in charge immediately. The interest of this observation is to shed light on this complication which often accompanies infection by covid 19, which has become, not only a respiratory disease, but also a vasculiritis with its significant risk of thromboembolism.
Background: Cardiac involvement in polymyositis is often asymptomatic. Electrocardiogram (ECG) remains a cornerstone for the screening of conduction disturbances and other electrocardiographic abnormalities. Case presentation: We report the case of a 35 year-old-woman with polymyositis complicated with a complete atrioventricular block 10 years after the beginning of her symptoms. She was admitted to the hospital for syncope and benefited from a pacemaker insertion without incident. Conclusion: Cardiac effects of polymyositis are associated with poor prognosis and might appear in patients in remission of the disease.
Cardiacmyxoma are the most common benign primary cardiactumors that can lead to many complications as described in literature. It is a benigntumor but her complications are dramaticbecause of herlocalization and hisrisk of embolization in otherorganswhich put the vital prognosisatrisk. We report 5 cases withdifferentclinicalsymptoms. We illustrate through these cases the embolic and obstructive complications of cardiacmyxoma and weinsist on the interest of an urgent surgicaltreatment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
