An improved method for simultaneously determining the permeability k and porosity 9 of tight rock samples ( k c pm2) using unsteady state liquid flow through porous media (pulse technique) has been developed. This method uses a history matching routine based on the method of variation of parameters for matching experimental data with simulated data (data generated by the computer program). A relationship between porosity and permeability has been developed which does not require initial guesses for porosity and permeability to run the iteration procedure. This method was applied to determine the permeability of three tight rocks at different confining pressures and the results are presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
