The article is devoted to the analysis of the military metaphor in sports texts from the beginning of the ХХI century and up to the present by the material of text fragments of the Russian National Corpus. The scientific novelty of the research is that for the first time an integral description of the military metaphor is given. The author reveals the thematic groups and lexico-grammatical categories of military vocabulary that are most often subjected to the process of metaphorization in the language of sport. The features of their use are identified.
