Carp cultivation has been going on for a long time in the Koto Panjang Reservoir and the type of Argulus ectoparasite in this fish culture has not been reported. This initial research study aims to identify the morphology and characterize the DNA of the Argulus species in this reservoir. This research can be used as initial information material for the management of aquaculture fish health and early warning against water quality degradation. Argulus surveys were carried out on carp parent cages with coordinate positions 0°16′46.7” North and 100°51”26.2” East. Argulus specimens were collected from live and dead carp bodies (body surface, gills, operculum, caudal fin, pectoral fin, anal fin, pelvic fin, base of tail, and abdomen) using a spatula and stored in 96% ethanol for identification using standard literature and DNA barcoding techniques. The research results obtained 115 specimens of the genus Argulus from 49 live goldfish (2800-4900 mm and 200-1800 g) and 3 goldfish that died ± 3-4 days which were characterized by white gills and white mucus lumps between the scales. DNA characterization revealed that the name of this fish lice species (Argulus) could not be determined and had a close relationship with Argulus japonicus Shizuoka-2019 with an identity value of 79.22%.
The Osteochilus melanopleurus (Bleeker, 1852) is one of the endogenous fish in the Siak River waters of Riau province which has high economic value. However, the fulfillment of needs still depends on the catch in nature. Efforts to overcome these problems are the availability of mature gonads. Broadly to accelerate the maturation of gonads through hormone induction until the fish are ready to be spawned to produce fish fry continuously. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of gonadotropin and anti-dopamine hormone induction with the trademark “Oodev” on the final gonad maturity (TKG) of the prospective broodstock of O. melanopleurus. The research was conducted from April to August 2021 in the fish rearing column and the experimental pond, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. The research method was a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatment levels and 3 replications, while the treatments were P0 (without Oodev injection), P1 (Oodev dose 0.5 mL/kg), P2 (0.7 mL/kg), and P3 (0,9 mL/kg). Measured responses: percentage of broodstock that reached TKG and egg diameter. The results of the research that have been carried out, the measurement of the diameter of the eggs produced showed that the use of the Oodev hormone at a dose of 0.7 mL/kg body weight of O.melanopleurus given every week for twelve weeks was able to stimulate the development of the gonads of O.melanopleurus. Ovaprim injection of 0.7 mL/kg body weight produced 89,566 eggs with a latency of 4 hours. oodev injection dose of 0.7 ml/kg BW or P2 treatment has succeeded in achieving a TKG of 82%.
Silkworms (Tubifex spp.) obtained from contaminated habitats are used as live food by fish culture expertsin Riau Province. The main supply of these worms comes from the Sail River in the middle of PekanbaruCity and has received a lot of organic and inorganic waste such as heavy metals from domestic activitiesand the cityâs economy. Heavy metal content in this worm habitat is almost limited to be investigated toanswer the possibility of fish mortality by fish farmers in the future. This study aims to investigate thequality conditions, presence of heavy metals in water, sediment, and bioaccumulation in these silkwormsfrom three worm collection centers. Research data revealed that the presence of heavy metals in water withthe largest to the smallest concentration order is Zn> Pb> Fe> Cr> Cu> Cd and the highest concentration inZn ranges from 0.6364 ± 0.14 to 1.6738 ± 0.16 mgl-1 and the lowest at Cd between 0.007 ± 0.003 to 0.0178 ±0.005 mgl-1. This metal is also found in sediments with the largest to the smallest concentration of Zn> Fe>Cr> Cu> Pb> Cd with Zn being the highest ranging from 63.8896 ± 1.23 to 121.1536 ± 1.31 mg kg-1 and thelowest is Cd ranging 0.4642 ± 0.14 to 0.9618 ± 0.11 mg kg-1. The concentration of heavy metals in worms ishigher, especially essential heavy metals than in water and sediment with the order Zn> Fe> Cu> Cr> Pb>Cd and their respective concentration ranges are Zn 84.5556 ± 1.50 to 92.8354 ± 1.70 mg kg-1, Fe 41.0664 ±2.78 to 61.3076 ± 2.42 mg kg-1, Cu 6.8536 ± 0.58 to 15.7204 ± 0.46 mg kg-1, Cr 4.4846 ± 0.39 to 8.9826 ± 0.41mg kg -1, Cd 0.4148 ± 0.12 to 1.9784 ± 0.13 mg kg-1 and Cd 0.4148 ± 0.12 to 1.9784 ± 0.13 mg kg-1. The BAFvalue shows that the highest accumulation of heavy metals into the body of silkworms comes from wateras compared to sediment at all locations. This study shows that the worms and the natural habitat theycollect are contaminated with heavy metals, but are still suitable as live food in fish hatcheries.
Desa Pandau Jaya telah memiliki unit Pembenihan Ikan Alaskobar Farm yang bergerak di bidang pembenihan ikan lele. Unit pembenihan ikan Alaskobar menerapkan pemijahan alami ikan lele sangkuriang untuk memperoleh benih. Persoalan yang dihadapi oleh unit usaha Alaskobar Farm ini adalah kurangnya jumlah produksi benih yang dhasilkan, sehingga pendapatan dari hasil usaha budidaya masih minim. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah 1) Memberikan ilmu dan teknologi tentang pemijahan semi buatan dan pemijahan buatan pada unit pembenihan ikan Alaskobar Farm Desa Pandau Jaya untuk meningkatkan benih ikan lele yang dihasilkan. 2) Meningkatkan penghasilan anggota unit pembenihan ikan Alaskobar Farm dan membuka lapangan kerja 3) Terciptanya agen informasi dan keterampilan tentang pembenihan ikan lele dengan teknik pemijahan semi buatan dan pemijahan buatan di Desa Pandau Jaya sehingga dapat menyebarluaskan kepada masyarakat lain. Anggota Unit Pembenihan Ikan Alaskobar Farm memiliki antusias yang tinggi terhadap teknologi pembenihan secara buatan yang diberikan. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil evaluasi perubahan pengetahuan dimana rata-rata peserta dapat meyerap materi yang diberikan dengan predikat terbanyak sangat baik (nilai A). Hasil evaluasi keterampilan yang dilakukan terhadap Unit Pembenihan Ikan Alaskobar Farm tentang teknologi pembenihan ikan lele melalui pemijahan buatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta kegiatan telah dapat mempraktekkan langsung.
