Elongation of very-long-chain fatty acids 7 (ELOVL7) is a member of Elongation of very-long-chain fatty acids (ELOVL) family. ELOVL7 plays a important role on extension of long-chain fatty acids. In this research, we cloned the complete coding region of chicken ELOVL7 gene. The amplified fragment contains complete coding region sequence with 840 nucleotides, which putatively codes for 279 AA. The homology of nucleotide sequences is from 49.7% to 99.8% among the nine vertebrates, while the similarity of AA sequence ranged from 89.7% to 98.1%. Results showed that the ELOVL7 gene is conservative among different animal species. This work constructed the basis for further research on the molecular nature and genetic markers of ELOVL7 for fat metabolism traits in chicken.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
