Dimethyl ether of acyclic polyethers, Me(OCH2CH2)nOMe, predominantly coordinated to MgX2 in an ether solution of Grignard reagent and the MgX2 adduct was removed as a precipitate. Consequently, an ethereal solution of pure R2Mg was obtained in reasonable yield. This method is more convenient than those known general.

Aerial oxidation of benzene suspended in aqueous sulfuric acid produces an appreciable amount of phenol. The reaction proceeds under ambient conditions only when cuprous ions are present in the solution.

927New anionic surfactants 2-alkyloyl-l,4,3,6-dianhydrosorbitol-5-sulfates were synthesized by sulfation of 2-alkyloyl-l,4,3,6-dianhydrosorbitol. Studies on the surface active properties such as surface tension, dispersibility and emulsifiability of these surfactants were carried out. The results showed these surfactants are better dispersants and emulsifiers than Span 80 and Span 85.This paper is a study of isosorbide derivatives.
