Aims: To review all the case reports or case series of patients with adult hepatoblastoma. Methods: A search of all case reports on adult hepatoblastoma in the English literature was performed using the PubMed database. Demographic information, clinical findings, treatment modalities and outcomes were extracted and analyzed. Results: A total of 36 English articles and 40 patients with adult hepatoblastoma were collected. All these cases were confirmed by pathological diagnosis. The median age of the 40 patients was 41.5 years, including 21 males and 19 females. Hepatitis B virus tests were positive in 6 patients, and 15 patients were positive for α-fetoprotein (AFP). Liver cirrhosis was only confirmed in 7 cases. Hepatoblastoma commonly forms a single giant mass within the liver. Twenty-three cases underwent radical liver resection, including 9 cases of comprehensive treatment. The median survival time for 27 patients with available follow-ups was 4 months; 1-year survival was 29.6%. In Cox multivariate analysis, curative liver resection was an independent prognostic factor for prolonged survival (p = 0.003). Conclusions: Curative liver resection can prolong survival. Improvements in outcome will require the development of more effective systemic therapies.
The myxoma virus (MYX) serpin SERP1 is a secreted glycoprotein with anti-inflammatory activity that is required for full MYX virulence in vivo. The cowpox virus (CPV) serpin SPI-3 (vaccinia virus ORF K2L) is a nonsecreted glycoprotein that blocks cell-cell fusion, independent of serpin activity, and is not required for virulence of vaccinia virus or CPV in mice. Although SPI-3 has only 29% overall identity to SERP1, both serpins have arginine at the P1 position in the reactive center loop, and SPI-3 has a proteinase inhibitory profile strikingly similar to that of SERP1 [Turner, P. C., Baquero, M. T., Yuan, S., Thoennes, S. R., and Moyer, R. W. (2000) Virology 272, 267-280]. To determine whether SPI-3 and SERP1 were functionally equivalent, a CPV variant was constructed where the SPI-3 gene was deleted and replaced with the SERP1 gene regulated by the SPI-3 promoter. Cells infected with CPVDeltaSPI-3::SERP1 secrete SERP1 and show extensive fusion, suggesting that SERP1 is unable to functionally substitute for SPI-3 in fusion inhibition. In the reciprocal experiment, both copies of SERP1 were deleted from MYX and replaced with SPI-3 under the control of the SERP1 promoter. Cells infected with the MYXDeltaSERP1::SPI-3 recombinant unexpectedly secreted SPI-3, suggesting either that the cellular secretory pathway is enhanced by MYX or that CPV encodes a protein that prevents SPI-3 secretion. MYXDeltaSERP1::SPI-3 was as attenuated in rabbits as MYXDeltaSERP1::lacZ, indicating that SPI-3 cannot substitute for SERP1 in MYX pathogenesis.
The study is performed to implement the Gold-Gold thermocompression bonding for the wafer-level packaging of MEMS chips. Numerous experimental attempts have been carried out to select the metal film adhesive to avoid the Au-Si melt together and optimize bonding processes to intensify the Au-Au eutectic bonding. Finally the results display that the eutectic bonding of the gold-gold are arrived as electrical as well as mechanical interconnection of the MEMS structure and as seal as well as bonding intension.
Heat and moisture comfort of several knitting underwear fabrics were measured and grey clustering analysis was applied to evaluate the heat and moisture comfort of these fabrics. According to the experimental data and grey clustering analysis results, the fibers can be ranked in terms of heat and moisture comfort as modal, bamboo and cotton, respectively. The evaluated fabrics were ranked as modal, bamboo, cotton/bamboo and cotton, in terms of heat and moisture comfort.
In view of fake and shoddy cotton seeds appearing constantly, it damaged the interests of the farmers seriously. Accordingly, this paper proposed a method to solve the cotton quality and safety, which combined the technology of Radio Frequency Identificaiton (RFID) and the Internet. The cotton circulation management model has been constructed, developing the cotton quality traceability system. This will not only can help consumers identify the cotton quality, but also can prevent unqualified cotton into the market so as not to protect the interests of farmers and manufacturers reputation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
