A 60-year-old female had thymic squamous cell carcinoma with invasion of the pericardium, parietal pleura, left brachiocephalic vein and aortic arch. The tumor and the first three above structures were resected, the aortic arch was marked for radiation, and the left brachiocephalic vein was reconstructed with an artificial graft. Radiation was given postoperatively to the mediastinum (40 Gy) and cervical region (43 Gy). Two courses of CDDP 100 mg/body, VP-16 300 mg/body and VDS 3 mg/body were administered. The metastasis in the mediastinal and cervical lymph nodes and skin of the anterior chest responded to the treatments and disappeared. This case supports the efficacy of agressive interdisciplinary treatment with extensive surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced thymic squamous cell carcinoma.
