Easy access: In the presence of Rh/C in D2O under H2 at 160 °C the H/D exchange reaction of unfunctionalized alkanes can easily occur (see scheme). Inexpensive reagents and mild reaction conditions are used, and fully deuterated products can be obtained after a simple work up procedure.
Abstract:The convenient and regioselective deuteration of hydroxy groups on vicinal carbons was achieved by the combination of 5% ruthenium on carbon (Ru/C), hydrogen gas and deuterium oxide (D 2 O).
A hydroxyl group was readily and directly introduced into the a-position of a variety of b-dicarbonyl compounds by heterogeneous Pd/C-catalyzed oxygenation using molecular oxygen.
Hydroxylation O 0216 Pd/C-Catalyzed Direct α-Oxygenation of 1,3-Dicarbonyl Compounds Using Molecular Oxygen. -Introduction of a hydroxyl group in the α-position of various β-dicarbonyl compounds and 2-methylindanone is successfully achieved under conditions A). In case of 2-phenyl-1,3-indanone (IX), homocoupling is observed. -(MONGUCHI, Y.; TAKAHASHI, T.; IIDA, Y.; FUJIWARA, Y.; INAGAKI, Y.; MAEGAWA, T.; SAJIKI*, H.; Synlett 2008, 15, 2291-2294; Lab. Med. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
