Sera collected from patients with cervical epithelial atypia, carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma, as well as from control subjects, were examined for the presence of HSV-I and HSV-2 antibodies. All these subjects came from one district of Prague.

The recognition of antigenic differences among the polio viruses belonging to the same type (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) provides an important means for their differentiation, especially useful in studies for the control of oral polio vaccination.
