This paper highlights the need of energy production in Pakistan and to determine the extent to which China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its energy projects will contribute to the economic growth and development of Pakistan. In this regard, a fair amount of literature has been reviewed. The literature review presented confirms that a positive relationship exists between the energy production, security and economic development. The long term friendship of Pakistan and China is discussed and how this tie has benefitted both the countries. Chinese cooperation and assistance with Pakistan is well evident from the substantial Chinese investment in Pakistan's infrastructural expansion particularly development of Pakistan's deep-water port at Gwadar. Under its One Belt One Road plan, China and Pakistan have collaboratively started a multibillion mega project, China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Under CPEC twenty-one energy projects being established, that is supposed to reduce the energy poverty generation in Pakistan. The study finds out that the sufficiency in energy sector will boost economy by energizing the industry and businesses as well as by creating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
This paper focuses on the lack of awareness as the major reason behind the reluctance of Corporate Customers towards Islamic Banking Products in Pakistan. Various reasons for avoiding the Islamic Banking products among customers are reflected in the literature reviewed. However, the need for further work analysis is required in the reviewed literature. Hence, the rationale for this study is to know the influence of unawareness about Islamic banking products among corporate customers and employees. This aspect was further explained through a case study. The case is based on the study of customers' reluctance in being a part of Islamic Banking Branches. This is because M-90 branches of Ex-NIB decided to become part of MCB Islamic after merger. Nevertheless, most of the corporate customers in these branches denied to associate with MCB Islamic, but rather preferred to become a part of Corporate Conventional Banking branches of MCB Bank. Results are extracted on the basis of a detailed review of literature and reviews from the industry experts. This study will be useful to understand reasons for this unwillingness that will provide us ways to avert any shortcomings if required in the products and services being provided by the Islamic Banks.
To develop the understanding of consumer behavior is considered as an important element for the producers and marketing managers. The buying behavior of consumers is highly dependent on their lifestyle. This research strives to examine the effect of lifestyle on the female buying decisions. For this reason, 150 close ended questionnaires were distributed among the female buyers of Karachi followed by convenient sampling approach. Out of 150, 120 questionnaires were received for the further analysis. The sample portrays that majority of the women belong from the upper middle class. Most of them are working women and students and belong from the age group of 18 years to 50 years. The findings of the study highlights that majority of the women prefer to buy imported brands rather than local ones. In line with this, they prefer to go through the reviews regarding the newly launched brand before making any purchase. With respect to the findings, it is recommended that local producers should improve their quality so that they can capture the large market of female buyers.
The introduction of social media in Pakistan has greatly influenced the entire world. It has its footprints not only on social dimension but economic and political dimensions are also facing significant shifts due to the development of social media. The present study is aimed at highlighting the social media impact on social, economic and political facets in Pakistan. Relevant statistics and theoretical data are utilized to achieve the research objectives. This research is pioneer in its kind as it sums-up all the three dimensions i.e. social, economic and political of social media impact in the country. Results of the study reveal that social media in Pakistan is youth and male dominated. Facebook is the most commonly used social media site in Pakistan. It is the usage of social media which makes it either useful or damaging. Marketers have used several means to maintain the brand loyalty of their consumers; social media marketing is one of the modern means. Businesses employ social media experts to decide on content and features of their offers in social media sites. Social media, being youth intensive, is appealing political parties towards it. Pakistani politicians are progressively using social media to stay in close contact with their supporters and to gain the confidence of them.
The study on social protection programs for elderly in Pakistan indicates an absence of concrete and clear frameworks developed by government. Most social security and cash assistance programs for the elderly are ad hoc arrangements which are made in response to circumstantial demands or advocated by international donor organizations which usually have their own agenda and priority. Ageing is the reality of every individual's life therefore it is important to save the social status of elderly people & ensure a progressive life. It is also observed that there are programs and frameworks but contains duplication and overlapping that create hurdles in designing a comprehensive and purposeful social protection strategy for elderly in Pakistan. The lack of such initiatives can cause difficulty for elderly people in planning their future. This paper presents a review of available programs offered for elderly in Pakistan in order to reduce the financial burden and what challenges are faced by them in accessing information about these programs. The paper also looks at identifying gaps and suggests a -way forward‖ for future contribution towards this important yet ignored issue. The paper recommends that social protection have been categorized in policies process, design and delivery & financing and they must be planned, monitored& evaluated effectively to improve the quality of life of elderly people in Pakistan.
