In the present work, the gelled IRFNA oxidizer was prepared and its quality was analyzed using several methods. Obtained results showed that fumed silica with mean particle size of 12 nm was appropriate gelling agent for preparing the gelled IRFNA. Moreover, mixing time of 30 min was sufficient for preparing the gel. Considering the effect of temperature (between À 5°C and 35 � C) on the quality of the prepared gel showed that preparing the gel was feasible in the temperature range between À 4°C and 35°C, but temperature range between 25°C and 35°C was more appropriate than the total range. Time needed for developing the gel network was 24 h in which the gel viscosity increased up to 30 % compared to the viscosity of the gel immediately after its preparation. The quality analy-sis showed a good stability of the gel in temperature range between (À 52 � C) and (+ 64 � C). The prepared gel retained its desirable rheological properties for at least 6 months. Mechanical stability test in acceleration of 500 g for 30 mins showed that the prepared gel had suitable mechanical stability. In addition, the prepared gel showed desirable rheological properties such as shear thinning, thixotropic and hysteresis. The viscometry results were in a good agreement with power law model. Flow behavior index (n) was increased from 0.2 to 0.3 by decreasing the gellant percentage from 4.5 to 3 % which show decreasing the shear thinning behavior of gel due to decrease in the gel gellant percentage.
