ABSTRACTFasciolosis is considered the second economically important parasitic disease in national livestock. The losses that it produces have increased in the country and the world. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence and economic losses associated with fasciolosis in bovine cattle of Otuzco, La Libertad, Peru. The prevalence was determined from 70 fecal specimens of bovines of both sexes and zootechnical category (modified sedimentation technique) and by physical inspection post-mortem of 334 livers. The economic losses were determined by: confiscation of livers and losses by quantity and quality of the housings. The prevalence of hepatic Fasciolosis in cattle was high and is present in all categories zootechnical and both sexes. The high prevalence of this parasitic disease in OTUZCO constitutes a risk of infection and reinfection for livestock and a health risk for the human population.
