Nowadays, liveability is a major consideration in upgrading public spaces, especially more sustainable streets. Considerable research has also been conducted to determine the most relevant indicators for more vibrant commercial streets. This paper sheds light on a specific case study in which terrorist attack led to the loss of vitality and ability to attract visitors in one of the most important commercial areas in Baghdad, Al-Karada inner street. The paper's aim is to identify indicators for reviving the companionable and sociable life of a street. As a result, it presents many indicators that can be applied to upgrade commercial street vitality by way of a significant, inclusive checklist, which incorporates many aspects. This checklist serves as a comprehensive framework to present needed information, diagnose problems, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of a commercial street's performance to enhance its liveability.
This research comes in an attempt to evaluate and compare between the efficiency of a selected sustainable urban projects from Baghdad city (Al Adhamiya and Al Kadhimiya areas) through applying the criteria ofurban sustainability and compared using SWOT analyses model(represents one strong word: S = strengths, W = weaknesses, O = opportunities, T = threats.), this done by examine the most important strategies which targeted to extrapolate the urban form as a vital sustainable structure, and has become a standard which could measure and evaluate the impact of the application for sustainable criteria. These strategies know as Smart Growth Strategies which include, Development, Design, Transportation, Open & Natural Space Protection, Open Space Creation, Sense of Place, and Urban Community Strategies. Here this search tries to extract the most local standards that consistent with the nature and environment of sustainable urban Iraqi projects in general and Baghdad in particular by reviewing the Smart Growth principles and strategies. However, the aim is to determine the effectiveness and the successfulness of the adopted urban projects in Baghdad in applying the urban sustainability criteria in the one hand, and to extract the most important positive points which serve the local environment and utilize them to establish the foundations for possible urban standards adopted in the evaluation of sustainable urban future projects on the others.
Many of the technological concepts of contemporary cities have expanded within smart development frameworks. Baghdad represents a global challenge that requires comprehensive changes at all levels to become a sustainable smart city. This study highlights the most important challenges facing contemporary cities in general and Baghdad city in particular in respect to creating techno-sustainability. In doing so, future cities will provide citizens with various lifestyles according to multiple development possibilities. Extant research suggests that technological cities actively deploy the latest technologies in order to ensure the best quality of life and facilitate access to all economic, social, and environmental levels. This model of technologies can be applied to Baghdad in a manner commensurate with the city’s social reality. Using the inductive analytical method, this study compare theories of smart development with the most important local challenges, thereby identifying areas of focus for achieving techno-sustainability in an Iraqi city. This study concludes that smart governance and smart movement followed by a digital learning platform and community participation are among the most influential factors for techno-sustainability. In turn, these factors strengthen research capacity and measure the turning points in the pathways of Iraqi cities.

Therefore, the most important findings in this research is the possibility of evaluate the performance of sustainable urban projects using SWOT analyses model through examining the internal environment which represented by the Strengths and Weaknesses of each project and external environment which represented by the Opportunities and Threatens of the economic situation, social life and environmental conditions. In conclusion, the search developed a local, comprehensive checklist which adopts the urban sustainability standards in the one hand, and at the same time, it can be used and developed to evaluate the performance of future urban sustainable development projects.
