AbstractTerrigenous sandstone formations of Mesopotamian geosyneline were investigated in order to reconstruct the palaeocurrents in the basin and to compare ancient and recent drainage systems. Direct and indirect methods were used; direct ones, as investigation of the dipping of cross bedding re-*) Geo!ogy, Baghdad-Adharniya, Iraq. l~paTi~oe eo~epma~ue I/ICC~Ie71oBaHBI TeppHreHH~]e nec~an~[e OTJIO~eH!4g MecoHOTaMCKO~ reoc!4H-Hon/IHa~I/I, qTO6bI peHoHewpyHponawb HanpaB~eni~ Ha~eoTeqennfl e 6accei~ne OTJIOH~eHH~I, C 0TOH I~e~bIO 5t,i~ Hp~Mene~ I~e~bI~ p~ MeTO~OB. --B~VIO ycTaHoBgeHo, UTO n IOrO-3aYIa~Ho~ gacT~ reociaHH~Ha~g OTI~ na~eoTeqeHgu gMeJig ~anpan~eH;~e c mro-sanaxa Ha ceBepo-nOCTOH. AbstractThe Archaean metasediments represented by pelitic, semi-pelitie, calcareous and psammitie rocks around Ri&ughuta have been thermally metamorphosed around a granite-granodiorite pluton. A detailed account of chemical and
