This study presents a tailored metamaterial structure for mutual coupling suppression in the E coupled microstrip phased arrays. Configured slot combined complementary split ring resonator (SCCSRR) is proposed for decoupling. A detailed analysis of the suppression characteristics of SCCSRR is presented along with its design methodology and parametric analysis. The SCCSRR pairs have been integrated with the microstrip phased array on surface and in the ground plane without any added fabrication complexity. The proposed design offers additional coupling suppression of 19 dB as compared with non-decoupled array of same dimension. The coupling suppression of −42 dB for 3.7 GHz array has been achieved successfully. The element separation is kept at 0.5 λ o and the complete design with two radiating elements measures 84 × 44 mm 2 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
