The peculiarities of sorption interactions between TMSP600 material obtained from carbonate sludge from sugar production and model sewage containing vegetable oils are investigated. It was found that in the absence of synthetic surfactants, TMSP effectively interacts with emulsions of vegetable oils and causes their rapid clarification. In the presence of sodium lauryl sulfate, efficiency is markedly reduced. The observed phenomenon is explained by the presence of a negative charge on the oil droplets, as a result of which they are repulsed from TMSP600 particles. The purification efficiency remains quite high at a synthetic surfactant concentration of <0.01 mg/dm3; therefore, TMSP600 can be considered acceptable for treating sewage contaminated with vegetable oils at a low synthetic surfactant content in the system.
The paper presents the results of a study of the possibility of recycling water treatment sludge in the production of wood-cement composites. Sludge is formed during the treatment of sewage, containing industrial machine oil, with a sorption material, based on thermally modified chestnut tree waste (CTW). It was found that the addition of sludge leads to an increase in the density of the samples. Thus, the samples without the addition of sludge have an average density of 860 kg/m3, samples with the addition of sludge in an amount of 10 mass% - 875 kg/m3, 20 mass% - 879 kg/m3, 30 mass% - 882 kg/m3, 42 mass % - 887 kg/m3. Studies of the change in water absorption of samples, depending on the amount of sludge added, showed that the values slightly decrease for samples containing sludge, what is explained by the presence of oil in the mixture. The compressive strength of the samples with the addition of sludge in the amount of 42 mass% was 3.1 MPa, what corresponds to the regulatory requirements for a wood cement composites.
A pigment-filler for paints is developed based on iron ore enrichment wastes i.e. tailings ferruginous quartziteenrichment (TFQ) and for dust sleeve filters while ceramsite production. The samples of powder materials having a particle size less than 50 microns were used for the experiments. The samples were prepared according to a formulation of paints and varnishes "Plant Paints Quil" (Belgorod). The samples of the primer were tested on the following parameters: dispersibility, the degree of grinding, relative viscosity, hardness, drying time, adhesion and elasticity. The results showed that the proposed pigment-filler is of the same quality as the materials traditionally used for the production of primers. Thus the proof of the possibility and prospects of using TFQ and ceramsite dust as pigments-fillers in the manufacture of paints and varnishes is evident.
