Synopsis : The numerical simulation of the fluid flow in the bottom-gas blowing ladle was conducted by the use of the two phase model. In the model not only the balances of mass, momentum and turbulent characteristics k and E in metal phase but also those of mass and momentum in gas phase are taken into account. The accuracy of the calculation was confirmed by the comparison of the flow velocities and turbulent kinetic energies between the calculation and the measurement in a water model test using the laser doppler anemometer. The mean velocities in the plume zone where both metal and gas went up were expressed as a function of Froude number and the aspect ratio of molten bath.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
