With an assembly of double-layered H-shaped metallic resonators, we simultaneously realized both magnetic and electric resonances at the same frequency band. Negative refractive index (NRI) is consequently achieved. The frequency band with NRI can be tuned by the structural parameters of the H-shaped resonators. This design demonstrates a unique example to construct metamaterial with NRI feature.
Nowadays the profile of integral shaped milling cutter is designed by diagram method. This method is low efficiency and bad precision. This paper deals with the application of conjugate surface theory to the profile design of integral shaped milling cutter. According to the structural characteristics of integral shaped milling cutter, the method for design of cutter profile to wood workpiece is investigated by use of conjugate surface theory. In the present study, the curve equations for integral shaped milling cutter profile are put forward, based on principles of coordinate transformation, mill cut mechanics and conjugate surface theory of differential geometry.
A quasistatic and steady state contact problems of rubber roller and rigid roller is modeled by using a stress function in the form of series. The model is derived from the paper feed unit of duplicating machine. The point interpolation meshfree method (PIM) is applied to obtain the solution of the dual series equations resulting from the boundary condition. Stress and deformation for the rubber roller are obtained based on elasticity theory. Effects of rubber thickness and normal load are observed through the numerical examples. The observation show that the contact zone is changing with the normal load F and the rubber thickness has effect on the stress distribution. In addition, the study shows that the PIM method is an efficient and promising method for simulating the problem.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
