Composite nanoparticle additives of hybrid layered doublehydroxide/graphene nanosheets (LDH/GO) and layered double-hydroxide/ molybdenum disulfide (LDH/MoS 2 ) have been fabricated by electrostatic selfassembly. The morphologies and compositions are confirmed by FESEM, EDS, XRD, Raman, and FT-IR. Zeta potential testing confirms that the composite nanoparticles have good dispersion stability in poly-α-olefins-4 (PAO-4). Meanwhile, the nanocomposites as additives can dramatically enhance the lubricating properties of PAO-4. Research results indicate that the good friction and antiwear properties of LDH/GO and LDH/MoS 2 composites can be attributed to the synergistic lubricating effects between LDH and GO or MoS 2 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
