The joggle mouse is a recessive ataxic mutant carrying an unknown mutation in a C3H/He (C3H)-Mutant mouse strains are useful models for studying the biological function of genes that are involved in the pathogenesis of human diseases. For these studies, identification of the gene responsible for the phenotype is crucial. As a first step to identifying the responsible gene by positional cloning, mapping of the gene locus is mandatory. However, mapping work is time consuming and numerous numbers of mouse genotypes need to be analyzed in order to calculate the logarithm of odds (lod) scores by linkage analysis. Recently, the
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
